EasternPAFootball's 2026 preview calls the Oct. 31 Danville win a District 4 Class 3A semifinal, 56-14, and the Nov. 7 Montoursville win the championship, 35-12. Chris Masse's Sun-Gazette preview that Friday said Mifflinburg had scored the last 49 points against Danville after trailing early, and had run for 435 yards.
Matt Beltz's account of the final, also carried by the Sun-Gazette, has it in a light rain at Mifflinburg High School. Chad Martin ran 13 times for 67 yards and three touchdowns and completed 8 of 13 passes for 156 yards and a score. The touchdown pass was 70 yards to Landen Murray, who caught six for 138. Jackson Griffith's interception gave Mifflinburg the ball at the Montoursville 33, and Martin scored from five yards at 4:26 of the second quarter. He scored from a yard with 20 seconds left in the half. Mifflinburg led 21-6. Jackson Marr returned an interception 34 yards in the third quarter, and Martin's one-yard run at 8:18 of the fourth made it 35-6. Montoursville's last touchdown came with 3:31 left.
Beltz wrote that the defense forced three turnovers and held Montoursville to 243 yards, 138 of them on the two scoring drives, and that this was the first district championship game the program had won. The 2002 title, he wrote, was shared with Shamokin because there was no district tournament. The Sun-Gazette called the night the first district title since 2002.
