Lewisburg week, on the road

Masse has Lewisburg at 4-4, with Milton still to play, after a 36-32 loss to Bloomsburg.

Lewisburg is Friday, Oct. 30, at 7. EasternPAFootball marks it as a Heartland Division III game. No score is in yet. On the PHAC scoreboards through Oct. 16, both teams are 4-1 against the other Division III schools, and they have not played each other.

Matt Beltz's Sun-Gazette recap has Bloomsburg beating Lewisburg 36-32 in Milton on Oct. 16. Lewisburg led four times. Xavier Carter threw for 206 yards and four touchdowns, and Bloomsburg moved to 8-0, its first 8-0 start since 1982. Chris Masse's Oct. 19 column has Lewisburg at 4-4, with Milton and then Mifflinburg left, and a shot at a first-round home game in the District 4 Class AAA bracket if it wins both.

The series page has Mifflinburg at 24-62-5 in 91 meetings. Last year the Wildcats won 35-0 at home on Oct. 24. In 2024 Lewisburg won 49-28 on its field. The Little Brown Jug page says Louise Burry, class of 1944, from Vicksburg, proposed the jug to chief school administrator W. E. Thomas in the 1942-43 school year. Harry Eckert, Lewisburg's principal and athletic director, and his school agreed. The competition started in 1943-44. Since 1991 every regular-season varsity sport counts, and a tie awards no point.
