Brad Catherman
Running back and linebacker in high school. Fullback at Shippensburg. · Mifflinburg. Shippensburg, 2004–2008. · Shippensburg
Shippensburg's 2008 roster lists Brad Catherman as a senior fullback, 6-2 and 231, from Mifflinburg and Mifflinburg High School. He redshirted in 2004. The high school line says he was a three-year letterman at running back and linebacker for Mark Reitz, a senior captain, and a Daily Item first-team pick, All-Central Susquehanna Conference, All-Anthracite, and a District IV all-star. As a senior he ran for 1,498 yards and 11 touchdowns on 280 carries. The bio does not call that a school record. It says he was on the 10-0 team in 2002, a Central Susquehanna Conference championship season, and that the team went 22-10 in his three seasons. He also lettered once in baseball.
As a redshirt freshman in 2005 he played in all 11 games, with 18 carries for 60 yards and a touchdown in week 10 against Slippery Rock. The season high was 24 yards against Lock Haven. He had 21 yards and the score against Slippery Rock, and 15 yards on seven carries against Clarion. He returned two kicks for 7 yards and made two tackles.
A leg injury limited 2006 to two games, Edinboro and Clarion, with one tackle assist against Clarion. In 2007 he played the first 10 games and finished with 11 carries for 36 yards. The second rushing touchdown of his college career came in a 56-10 win over Lock Haven on Oct. 27, eight carries and 30 yards that day. He returned two kickoffs for 7 yards against Edinboro on Sept. 29 and had special-teams tackles against West Chester, Slippery Rock, Lock Haven, and IUP. The 2008 note says he added depth at fullback, played on special teams, and led the fullbacks with a 355-pound bench in spring testing.
